HomeWork: (1) Write each letter learned thus far five times, (2) identify words containing the sound of each letter, and (3) revise letter + vowel combinations
We began with review of the three _akshars_ covered last week:
*ब, भ, न*
Today, we covered three new akshars : *य, र, ल*
The sounds, vowel-variants and common words.
Please have kids practice writing these and discuss other words containing these akshars.
We covered these three akshars today: प , फ, म
The sounds, vowel-variants and common words.
Please have kids practice writing these on pages 30, 31 & 34
Last week we covered द, ध, ड & ढ Two had been covered previously but we reinforced the subtle difference between the sounds, and common words. Please have kids practice writing these and discuss words that contain these sounds...
We practiced “da” and “dha” today
Hw: find words containing the sounds practiced.
Materials covered in class - revise hindi letters ta(ट) and tha(ठ). Learn 2 new letters Tha(त) and Tha(थ).
Homework for this week - Practice writing Th(त) and Tha(थ)
In the last two classes, we covered ज & झ, and ट, ठ, ड & ढ. As always, we began classes with general conversations to develop spoken and hearing competencies. Please continue to speak consistently in Hindi at home, and make them write the letters covered in class
This Sunday, we will be recapping ट & ठ, and covering two new त & थ. All four sound similar, so we want to ensure kids understand the subtle variation
Likewise, next Sunday, we will recap ड & ढ, and introduce द & ध
Homework for today is page 10 and 11
Today we learned ch and Chh
Homework is to learn the difference between ch and chh
Just to reemphasize: (1) practice writing ग & घ (page 3 & 4 of the book), (2) identify 5 words containing ग & घ. Could be हिन्दी words (गुलाब) or English (gold) - the intent is to understand and differentiate between the root sound of these akshars. Kids are understanding quite well the concept of how स्वर can modify the akshar, so please also verbal practice asking what "ग + AA, I, EE, U, OO, AE, AIE, O, OU" would sound like
Also - as always we started the class with 5-10 mins of conversational हिन्दी- yesterday we discussed what everyone did for Diwali. It was so enjoyable to hear their stories :)
Today, we started learning the first row (क,ख,ग,घ)
- pronounciation, simple words containing these sounds, variants based on combining with स्वर.
Homework: (1) practice writing क & ख (page 1 &2 of the book), (2) identify 5 words containing क,ख,ग & घ. Could be हिन्दी words (केला, for banana) or English (kite) - the intent is to explain that the root sound of the word's start is "क"
As always, please continue to speak with kids in हिन्दी, and to the extent possible, avoid responding unless they respond in हिन्दी. They absolutely can, and will, do so, if you keep trying
Homework: Practice the sounds of the vowels and how they modify different sounds of other vowels
Homework: Talk about any topic for 1 minute straight in Hindi
We covered self-introductions, basic conversations and initial numbers (1-10, and then in 10s)
Homework is to review these concepts - with parents, relatives and family friends.
