We had a visitor today born and raised in the US. He introduced himself in Gujarati and then the kids introduced themselves. He gave out some information about the Statue of Unity in Gujarati and English. Kids who missed March 23rd wrote the names oh their aunts and uncles on the white board. We resumed page 20/21 from the book.
With just three kids in, it was a productive day. Kids took turns and wrote the names of their parents, aunts, uncles on the white board in Gujarati. They want to have more activity like this. Talked about some curbing in the upcoming presentation due to time limit. Next time we meet, we will work on it.
Studied the map of Gujarat. They got very interested in it. Revised ‘ai’ and started with ‘o’. No homework next week.
ગુજરાતીમાં બધાંના રસની પ્રવ્રુત્તિના વાત કર્યા બાદ સ્વર “ઊ” નાં વાક્યોનો પરિચય. “એ” ના શબ્દો શીખવાની શરુઆત કરી. Parents, please ask your kids what homework is expected.
We started with conversations among each other about what we did over the weekend. Learned ઊ “oo” words and few sentences using that vowel. Next week, they are going to tell each other about their favorite activity outside or in schools.
Remote class started with the presence of parents. Shared what is covered so far and what the plan is for the rest of the year. Listened to parents’ feedback and suggestions. Students pleasantly surprised by reading full sentences and singing prayers. No homework due to freezing cold! Double homework next week!!
Today we started by revising what we learned last week. Each student was given the name if an object and was asked to describe that object without naming it. Rest of the class was to guess. All in Gujarati. સ્વર ઉ પરના શબ્દો આગળ ચાલે છે. આવતા રવિવારે એ શબ્દો અને એના અર્થ એમને યાદ હોવા જોઈએ એવુ કહ્યું છે.
We started with a game involving body parts. Kids told us about their winter break outings and activities. As mush as they could in Gujarat. Second level students learned ઈ(ee) words and some sentences. First level student worked on two letter words.

Talk with parents about dinner in Gujarati - next week, kids will be talking about what they ate and what they liked about it and what they didn’t like.

We are switching our project to the whole class presenting about the Statue of Unity
Parents, please practice introductions with your kids: Name, School, Grade, and Hobbies. Some kids are really lacking, please enforce this.
Today in class, kids practiced introducing themselves in Gujarati (Name, School, Grade, Hobbies etc ). Continued rest of the class with page 13, 3 letters compound words identification and writing and closed the class with Sparsh reading Dala Tarvadi story in Gujarati and English.
Homework: All kids practice their introduction in Gujarati and finish page 13. All parents, please encourage your kids to give their introduction to you in Gujarati.
We started with candies. Moved on to do some rangoli designs. Learned first to read and then writs three letter words. Sparsh worked on some compound Gujarati words. Practice what we learned today and Sparsh is going to read a short story. Next week he will tell it to rest of the class. We shared some Diwali goodies.

Today, we started learning the Asatyo Maahe poem, we practiced Gujarati alphabet, and we did pages 3 and 4 in Book 1 which have practice writing words and learning definitions (eg. Ghar, vad, nakh ,etc.)

- Read the words on pp. 3 and 4
- Read the asatyo maahe poem with your parents
Today, we translated sentences with animal names, learned about vowels and how they are used with consonants, and we also learned about numbers from 1-10 in a song form.

Talk with your dad about their dad’s name and job.Be ready to share in the next class.
Today, we discussed why Gujarati is so important in current times. From Mahatma Gandhi to PM Modi, Gujarat is globally known. Talked to parents about their expectations of this class and asked kids why they were in the class. Interesting results!
