Namaste to Dharma 9/10, dear parents and students. Last week was our first class. We started with a quiz on the Bhagavad Gita to discuss the major themes of the Gita in a lighter mood. Click here
Then, we discussed in detail the importance of being a Human Being, the purpose of our life. Human beings share the goals of 1) Artha (possessions, meeting our necessities) and 2) Kama (pursuing happiness) with animals. But we rise above the animals when we follow our third goal of 3) Dharma, which means doing our duty, making the right choices and being virtuous. In addition to this, humans have the potential to achieve a fourth goal called 4) Moksha, which makes us Divine.
Those who remain stuck at the level of the first two goals are underutilizing the human body and brain. We must plan our lives and spend each day with a higher purpose. This is what the Bhagavad Gita teaches us.
We started with the second topic of why it is important to study the Bhagavad Gita. We will continue this topic on 9/29 because the next Sunday (9/22) is reserved for meditation for our class.
Attached is the document that we used to cover the first topic (Importance of Human Birth). Click here
Regards,
Level 10 teachers.
Hello all.
Today was just an introductory class where we went over the curriculum and what some expectations are. This class is an extremely valuable class which will help everybody who’s pays attention to it including parents. Parents are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to join class so they can learn with their student. We are hoping to get textbooks in about two weeks. Next class we will be diving straight into our material so come prepared to learn and take notes.
